Looking for an authentic cultural activity in Porto? This workshop goes beyond painting a tile. Explore the history, symbolism, and craftsmanship of Portuguese azulejos while creating your own hand-painted ceramic tile to take home.
Cristina is a Porto-based artist and graduate of the Faculty of Fine Arts of the University of Porto. With extensive experience in Portuguese tile heritage, she collaborate on educational and cultural projects, including workshops developed with the Bank of Materials of Porto City Council, which helps preserve the city’s architectural heritage.

In this relaxed and inspiring workshop, Cristina will introduce the story of Portuguese tiles, from their origins and artistic influences to their role in Porto’s streets, churches, railway stations, and historic buildings. Through stories, examples, and demonstrations, you will gain insight into one of Portugal’s most cherished art forms.

You will then paint your own ceramic tile using traditional Portuguese techniques and motifs but you can, also, create a design of your choice. Cristina will guide you step by step, sharing traditional techniques while encouraging your creativity.

No previous experience is required. The workshop is designed to be enjoyable and accessible for all skill levels.
As you create your tile, enjoy a complimentary glass of Port wine in a welcoming atmosphere that combines creativity with cultural discovery.
